If so how much, and how is a standard record deal broken down.Is it true that most music artist still make less than a dollar a record?
Yes, and it depends on how popular and famous the artist is.Is it true that most music artist still make less than a dollar a record?
if they write their own songs, their share is minimal - song writers get royalties of 1.9 cents per minute of a song, everytime it's played on the radio or sold on a cd or download - even if it's covered by another band/singer. If one person writes all 15 - 4 minute songs on one album - they would get around $1.14 in royalties just from the song writing portion, plus whatever other deal they have with the record company for units sold. I'm sure the deals vary widely
