Is it true that watering the grass on a warm or hot day will hurt the grass?

its about 89 degrees and I want to water my grass but have heard that it is not good to water the grass when it is hot. I have st. augustine grass if that matters. Is it true that watering the grass on a warm or hot day will hurt the grass?
I see we have a new batch of garden/landscape people that need to learn better watering practices...(never water at night, early morning only)

';Carl'; and ';Martha'; have the only legitimate answer so far. Evaporation is the only thing that will happen in this case... Good Job!

Yes
Don't water when it's hot because the water heats up quickly and its not good for the plants

Water early morning or night when its cooler outside
You should water it in the morning or evening when the sun is not at its peak. I've heard that it stresses the plants and grass??
yes...water left on the leafs of grass will act like a magnifing glass and burn the grass. So water before sun up or after sun down.
That sounds silly to me. It could waste water with the evaporation.
Do it after the sun goes down. Watering at that temp in the peak of the day..the water evaporates. Also..the water beads act like little magnifying glasses and can cause damage to the blades of grass.
It wastes water, because the water evaporates more quickly before sinking in the ground to hydrate the grass.
