I know that tanning is famous for its bad effects, but I've heard that it can also have positive effects on mental health. I used to always feel happier after going tanning for a little while, possibly because it feels like bathing in the sun. Has anyone else felt this way or read about the mental health effects of tanning? Is it true that tanning can positively influence your mental health?
well lets just say that the UV rays released during tanning are very similar to that of natural sunlight, however probably more dangerous. it is true the more light that enters the retina the less depression that some people experience, mental health research has proven this. my doctor suggested that i use the tanning bed with extra sun screen with SPF 15. then there is the catch, the cost. good luckIs it true that tanning can positively influence your mental health?
Instead of tanning use a special light made just for SADD. You can find them on the internet. It is a lot safer than tanning and will make you feel happier.
If you have Seasonal Affective Disorder(SAD)your doctor would most likely reccommend special lamps however tanning would also make you feels better. But tanning is not healthy.
Maybe, but would you risk skin cancer for a perkier outlook on your shortened life? NOT ME!
no offense but you have to be a white chick like paris hilton to think that, tell brittney i said what's up
sunlight can, I'm not so sure about fake and bake.
Yes it helps with depression.. You only need a few minutes a couple of times a week.. I have been doing it for 20 years and I don't even have wrinkles yet;-)
The ';light box'; is made from the same UVB lights as a tanning bed.
idk, but i think dying of cancer would be pretty bad for your mental health.
i know that ppl can get depressed if they don't get enough sun, but you can make up for that with a light box thingy that doesn't have the harmful uv rays, so that would b better than tanning.
Tanning no spending time in the sun yes, slap on some sunscreen and a hat and spend the day out doors it will make you feel mentally healthy but those tans are more than dangerous
Tanning beds can have a definite effect on mental state, after you've developed melanoma, which is the deadliest form of skin cancer.
There is a condition called SAD (seasonal affective disorder), which is a type of depression that occurs when people don't get enough daylight, such as the long nights in Alaska, especially. It's suggested that if you don't get outside enough, at least sit by a window the the blinds open. We were built to be outside more....
