Is it true you need to wait for the battery to die to recharge it?

As with phones and computers. Why? Is it really bad if you don't wait for the battery to die to recharge it?Is it true you need to wait for the battery to die to recharge it?
Cell phone batteries have a lifetime of about 300 charges. if you let them drain, you'll simply get more life out of them

Cell phone batteries are much littler (obviously) than laptop batteries, so there's a chemical ';economy of scale'; with them. You can get a lot more charges with a laptop - I've had mine for years and keep it charged all the time. There is on modern laptops a circuit that determines if it's plugged in or not and keeps the battery charged too.

So no -you don't *have* to let your batter drain, you'll just get more life out of it.

Some things to consider:

1. Bluetooth earpieces can totally screw up cell phone batteries. Use a wire instead of bluetooth if you can to increase your cell phone battery life.

2. Get an extra-life battery for your phone if they make them - mine has been lasting for years.

HTHIs it true you need to wait for the battery to die to recharge it?
Batteries get 'imprinted' to discharge to a certain level. If you routinely discharge on part of the capacity you will effectively reduce the battery's capacity by imprinting it to discharge only down to the 'normal' discharge level.....Its best to let it run very low or out then FULLY recharge.
i don't never have though
If a battery comes at all charged, drain it completely and recharge it fully the first cycle, this gives it longevity and increases the cycles it may be recharged before needing replacement. Yes, it's a good idea to fulldrain-fullrecharge for 1 cycle at least.
You should let batteries fully discharge to re-charge them again. This used to be essential with old style NiCD (nickel cadmium) batteries. It was because if you say had a battery which lasts 8 hours re charged it at 50% usage, it'll then last only 4 hours.

Nowa days it's not so important but the ';memory'; effect is batteries is still slightly apparent so i always let my batteries run flat before charging just to maximise battery life.
this is a myth
No its not true... u need to recharge the battery before it dies else it wont accept the charge being provided.

Ideally u should charge the battery when its 75% used (thats easy to spot in cell phones).

but never wait for it to discharge completely before recharging
With modern lithium based batteries you do not need to discharge them all the way before recharge. You had to do that with the older NiCad batteries because they would develop a ';memory'; and not charge all the way if you didn't discharge them all the way first.
