Is it true that the Irish are the friendliest people in the world?

It's difficult to generalize an entire population but I wonder how true this idea is. I heard this alot and have talked to a few people that have traveled to Ireland and agreed. However, they traveled there at least a decade ago. So if they are the friendliest, does it still hold true today, especially towards Americans? Is it true that the Irish are the friendliest people in the world?
No. They are, however, one of the most bigotted races. Is it true that the Irish are the friendliest people in the world?
When we went last spring, the people of the smaller towns were not unfriendly, just seemed to ingore us and were a little leary of us. There were tons of French tourist, so maybe they thought we were French!
well being Irish i would have to say yes of course, we like to have fun, we're not snobbish like the english, we don't look down on people well i don't at least. So you have a good day my friend and may the Luck of the Irish be with ya.
Lived in Ireland for 13 years, and yes in general the Irish are a very friendly bunch.I could count on 1 hand how many people that I met that I didn't really like that much.but you are going to get that,no matter where you are.
not all irish people are nice...specially the police, one time my friend got his face re-arranged from a group of em by accidentally running into one of the cops...
i agree. I work with two of them.. They are soooo nice!
yea ppl say we are but there are some assholes here
You can't generalize.

Dutch are friendly.

Brazilians are friendly.

Jamaicans are friendly.

Australians are friendly.
Your question made me wonder where the knickname ';The fighting Irish'; came from?
I don't think its very friendly how you kiss the Blarney Stone and the Irish are laughing because they piss on it!! Does that sound friendly??
well, i dont know about that... but i know wht'll be the next place i'll go...
i heard that people from australia are the friendliest. i think it's a matter of opinion.
I have found the Irish very accommodating. The Japanese are pretty friendly too.
Actually the friendliest people in the world are from Newfounland %26amp; Labrador. (And NO I'm from Ontario)
No, maybe to tourists with money but not in general. If they were, would they be blowing each other up? I found the Irish in the republic to be very stand-offish and aggressive. Friendliest people in general would be the Kiwis.
You can't really go with all those generalizations...Irish are friendly, Germans are racist, French are rude, etc...

You'll find friendly and rude people everywhere you go..
I went to Ireland this summer...and i couldn't believe it...it's true!!! English is not my language, and when i was around there everybody was very very patient with me and willing to help all the time. I toootally agree :)
