I've heard that you can never ';really'; take things of the internet, such as pictures or web posts because they still exist somewhere even if you deleted the initial source. I was wondering is this true? Also, I was wondering about internet history/searches as well, I use Safari and it is possible to reset safari/clear all searches, clear history and empty the cache but does it really make the information unable to be accessed ever again or could someone still access it if they had knowledge of computers? Thanks in advance! Is it true that whatever you post on the internet stays there forever?
no thats not true... some websites keep info about you.. but not everything you post.. because so much data cant be stored forever.. it costs on disk space..Is it true that whatever you post on the internet stays there forever?
Not necessarily, but it is highly unlikely that you will be able to eliminate all traces of things you have posted publicly. The reason for this is that many web pages are cached so if a comment or picture one appeared, it is likely to be somewhere in the ';cloud';. You can set preferences on your browser so that you are not leaving a trail on your browser, but ';anonymity'; on the web is greatly misunderstood. At first blush, you seem to be anonymous, but with relative ease your ISP number can be used to track you down. Bottom line, don't do anything online that you would not want splayed out on the front page of your local newspaper.
