I have a terrible cold and I don't want to lose my ghost thingy. Is it true that when you sneeze your soul is trying to escape?
Yes, that is why people cover their mouth when they sneeze, to keep your soul from flying out of. That's also why people say, ';Bless you';, just to make sure your soul stays in your stomach where it belongs.
GizIs it true that when you sneeze your soul is trying to escape?
That's an interesting idea.
Did you know that the reason Americans say ';God bless you'; when somebody sneezes is because, during the Bubonic Plague, people believed that when you sneezed, a demon would enter your body and make you sick? People would say, God bless you to cast the demon out and save your soul.
But, to answer your question, I think that modern science has proven a real reason behind sneezes.
However, you can never really know, can you?
No,
The origin of the custom:
It was believed in the Dark Ages that when you sneezed you were expelling demons. That is why people say 'God bless you'.
The origin of the custom:
In the same vein, people back then also believed you could inhale a demon when you yawned, that is why even to this day, you cover your mouth.
We do not HAVE a '; separate'; soul...this is a false teaching...
We ARE a soul...a complete living breathing person...
Adam was created...a living soul... He was not 'given' one.
the soul can die...you have to be alive to do that...
(Ezekiel 18:4) Look! All the souls鈥攖o me they belong. As the soul of the father so likewise the soul of the son鈥攖o me they belong. The soul that is sinning鈥攊t itself will die.
The Bible also calls animals...souls...
(Revelation 16:3) And the second one poured out his bowl into the sea. And it became blood as of a dead man, and every living soul died, [yes,] the things in the sea.
And the word soul is translated from the Hebrew word NEPHESH, meaning..that which breathes...
No, that's an old wives' tale...as is the idea that it's impossible to keep your eyes open when sneezing (some people can) and that it's related to orgasm (it's not). But that is the origin of saying ';Bless you!';, if I understand right.
Just hope your sinuses don't drain suddenly like mine did one time. All of a sudden I'd get a rush of fluid out my nose, without warning. It was brownish and sticky and it would get on stuff before I could stop it...yuck. And then it would do it again a while later without warning.
No, it only meas that something has irritated your sinuses or nasal cavity. Your soul or ';ghost thingy'; as you call it has nothing to do w/ sneezing.
No but it is true that a sneeze is 1 20th of an orgasm...so have 20 in a row and it'll feel REALLY good.
No, that's only true if you have bubonic plague. But nobody gets that anymore....
It was an old wives tale that dates back to renascence times. Because they believed each time you sneezed your heart skipped a beat so to play it safe they would say ';God Bless You!';
BBRRRAAAAAAAAAAAHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAAAAAAH鈥?The ridiculaous questions..... they just keep coming!
I heard that your heart skips a little when you sneeze and that's why people say ';bless you'; because you could've died or something!
Yeah; that's it. Absolutely. Hold your nose when you sneeze; that'll teach the little bugger.
Hahahahahaha!!!
Believe me, you Won't Lose your ghost thingy!!!
Thank You Jesus!!!
(Oh Brother!!! :)
(laughing hysterically)
no, but did you know that it is impossible to keep your eyes open when you sneeze???
For my part, my soul is also sneezing with me*
I've heard that too, it's probably superstitions. x
I thought that only happened when you farted....
If that wasn't true, would I bother saying Gesundheit?
LOL Ghost thingy...
No. It means you have an allergy or cold.
who ever told you that is an idiot!!
This is false.
