Is it true that athletes get special treatment when it comes to getting addmitted to a school ?

is it true that athletes get special treatment when it comes to things like this . And why is it ? is it because of money? Is it true that athletes get special treatment when it comes to getting addmitted to a school ?
Yes, it could be true if one is outstanding in a specific sport or is in varsity. They are more likely to get into university even if they're grades aren't great. Mainly because universities likes to see someone that's not just smart but have talents that might benefit to their university sport. No, it's not because of money, it's because they are better than someone else in the sports field and that makes them stand out.

All universities/ Ivy would love to see outstanding sport skills.

One girl in my school was outstanding in soccer and Stanford begged her to go to Stanford. She never took any APs and her grades were decent but not great.

Another girl in my school is a Junior Olympic ice skater and i'm sure all the universities will want her.

I have too many examples. Is it true that athletes get special treatment when it comes to getting addmitted to a school ?
Yes Athletes, mainly basketball and football players get special treatment when it comes to admissions. Usually they can get into schools like Northwestern with a GPA that is lower than required and minimal SAT scores.

Unfortunately that is one of the reasons our educations system is in the dumps compared to the rest of the world, we actually say to our kids it is okay if you get bad grades and SAT scores, if you are a good football player you will succeed.

The good news is that this special treatment does not apply when it comes to a lot of the D3 schools like MIT and Johns Hopkins and a lot of the Ivy League colleges as they really do not care about sports.

A lot of the state universities win scholarships if they do good in a sport, with those scholarships they recruit athletes to play for them so they can make their team better.

PS: Most sports schools (especially D-1A schools) are usually party schools which cannot offer the same quality of education an Ivy League or a liberal arts school can.
