Is it true that watering the grass on a warm or hot day will hurt the grass?

its about 89 degrees and I want to water my grass but have heard that it is not good to water the grass when it is hot. I have st. augustine grass if that matters. Is it true that watering the grass on a warm or hot day will hurt the grass?
I see we have a new batch of garden/landscape people that need to learn better watering practices...(never water at night, early morning only)

';Carl'; and ';Martha'; have the only legitimate answer so far. Evaporation is the only thing that will happen in this case... Good Job!

Yes
Don't water when it's hot because the water heats up quickly and its not good for the plants

Water early morning or night when its cooler outside
You should water it in the morning or evening when the sun is not at its peak. I've heard that it stresses the plants and grass??
yes...water left on the leafs of grass will act like a magnifing glass and burn the grass. So water before sun up or after sun down.
That sounds silly to me. It could waste water with the evaporation.
Do it after the sun goes down. Watering at that temp in the peak of the day..the water evaporates. Also..the water beads act like little magnifying glasses and can cause damage to the blades of grass.
It wastes water, because the water evaporates more quickly before sinking in the ground to hydrate the grass.

Is it true that I can claim back fuel surcharges from British Airways? If so how do I claim the monies back?

I have been travelling with British Airways on long haul flights for approximately four years.

I have kept my boarding passes.

I still have flight numbers from previous flights.

Is there a website for customers to claim? Is it true that I can claim back fuel surcharges from British Airways? If so how do I claim the monies back?
BA and Virgin Atlantic were found guilty of conspiring to fix fuel surcharges and are required to give refunds to passengers who flew between August, 20004 and March, 2006, this website explains how to get your refund or try contacting BA, good luck:

i have never heard of this before
Never heard of it either and I work for one of BA's biggest competitors...

Sounds kind of strange to me, are you sure it is not an urban legend or something like that?

The airline I work for had to implement a fuel surcharge last year and they had to contact every single customer, who had purchased a transatlantic ticket to ask them for the additional money...

Is it true if I get a job at Giant Eagle I'll have to start off as a bag boy?

I applied for a job at Giant Eagle stocking shelves. I have an interview next week and I am just wondering if this is true? My friend said I'll have to be a bag boy for like 90 days before I can stock shelves. Is it true if I get a job at Giant Eagle I'll have to start off as a bag boy?

Probably, to be completely honest. They always start you off doing a crappy job.

Is it true that a 10-inch flowerhorn can take down 3 full grown oscars?

My friend has a tank divider, he said although flowerhorn is smaller, broke the tank divider and took down 3 oscars whose size twice the flowerhorn at once. Is flowerhorn that strong? Is it true that a 10-inch flowerhorn can take down 3 full grown oscars?
Flowerhorn can take down 3 full grown oscars when it reaches 10 inches, but chance increases when it is at 12 inches. Some flowerhorn owners have taken good care of their flowerhorn, thus, they grew up to 16 inches, but is rare. They reason flowerhorn can take 3 oscars down at once is because oscars are not aggressive, but big in size.Is it true that a 10-inch flowerhorn can take down 3 full grown oscars?
they can get up to 16 inches and they're territorial (like pure cichlids) so if one is breeding, it will likely be abusive to others in the tank who come into it's area. As far as ';taking out 3 full grown oscars';, this isn't a martial arts movie, so it's not likely he'll be walking down an alley and get jumped by 3 mean tattooed oscars. As with any man hybridized fish, you don't really know what any one's ancestry is (and there's so much debate as to what the real fish are behind the flowerhorn) so who knows how the one you get will react. Because it's a fish mostly popular (and bred) in asia, there's very little control involved in how they're bred, or under what conditions, or even what the parents were! They're known to breed with a half a dozen fish (because that's where they came from) so who knows what'll happen if you add em to your tank. Never mind taking out an oscar, one could mate with it!
Anything is possible. Oscars are not the most aggressive fish in the waters. They're actually a bit shy when placed in environments where they aren't the biggest fish. They are more aggressive with each other when kept in an environment to small for them than towards other fish. My Convict at 6 inches pushes my 15 inch Oscar around all the time.

Is it true that both Yahoo and Facebook are totally biased against President Obama?

Every poll i've seen in the past 6 months is worded as an anti - Obama statement. I find this bias to be most offensive. Am I wrong? Prove it.Is it true that both Yahoo and Facebook are totally biased against President Obama?
Are you talking about the web sites themselves or the people who uses those sites, I, myself, always saw Yahoo users more of pro-Obama. I don't know about Facebook as I rarely venture in it. Earlier on in the year after Obama's election you would have to really look to see anyone biased against Obama, but now it is beginning to look like those pro-Obama has either finally understood what Obama is about, or went into hiding not to be seen as pro-Obama.Is it true that both Yahoo and Facebook are totally biased against President Obama?
anyone not blindly singing his praises is biased against President Obama. anyone paying attention is biased against President Obama. Anyone who owns a calculator and comes to different numerical conclusions is biased against President Obama. Anyone who thinks that asking questions is within our rights is biased against President Obama. anyone who did not realize fundamental change would be embraced and implemented by anti-american forces is biased against President Obama. anyone who thinks that the dictionary is where words are defined and not the white house is biased against President Obama. anyone who thinks that transparency is different that complete and total secrecy is biased against President Obama. Did you ever think that when he stops seeing us as the enemy things might change. or when he realizes that he works for us or that what we think should matter or that dishonesty is not a quality that brings us closer. Anyone who has not come to suspect this man is not worthy of my respect or time. I'm not telling you to hate. I'm telling you that if you were not raised by heroine addicts in a carnival, simply opening your eyes to see him objectively see him, would be enough. You would come to realize that you have been played by an anti-american socialist. Just open your eyes.
If you disagree with Obama then you are labelled anti Obama. Its that simple.

Is it true that small dogs are often meaner than large ones?

I've seen some small dogs with some pretty bad tempers! Is it true that small dogs are often meaner than large ones?
yes i lived next door to and evil chihuahua with the most raspiest bark ever it is so funnily evilIs it true that small dogs are often meaner than large ones?
Neither large or small has to be mean. it is in the way the dog is raised and trained or the lack of. Many dogs have special needs that need to be addressed. Little dogs are in the group. I had a pit bull and my wife a chihuahua and both were friendly and loving. It is like having a child the way your dog turns out is a reflection of how you raise it.
Small dogs are very often not trained properly. Lack of size does not mean they should lack discipline. Big dogs must be trained well to survive. If they bite, they can do serious damage and the owner and the dog are in trouble. Small dogs are often overlooked in this aspect. When they bite, they don't do much damage, so people are more tolerant of it, though they shouldn't be. Little dogs are often spoiled by their owners, leaving them to be aggressive, anxious, obnoxious, little biting machines. So I would say it's not that they are meaner than big dogs, they are just never taught better.
yup because they compensate this for their size. They are small so they are more careful and protective of themselves.
smaller dogs can be more aggressive but a lot of times this is really the owners fault...see being as the dogs are soo small %26amp; cute they tend to get away w more.....as in they are allowed to jump up on people because it doesnt bother the person as the dog only weighs in at like 10 lbs versus a 75 rotty or something.....people tend to disapline smaller dogs less so in the long run thye turn out ot be ill tempered or unruley because they were allowed to get away w it form the get.....bottom line ALL dogs need dicipline %26amp; rules, they are pack animals %26amp; are MUCH happier being a follower than trying to asume the role of pack leader, which should ALWAYS be YOU in your house
yes that is were the term lil dog syndrome comes from. the fact that they over emphases their personality to make up for lake in size. you will find that the smaller dog will rule the house when their are large size deferences
Yes people tend not to train them because they are small.

    Go figure!!
From my experience as a dog groomer I have found that small dogs are more fearful. They seem mean but I think the main reason is that they are smaller then everyone else so feel that they have to be dominant over everyone and other larger dogs. it's called small dog syndrome. It's all in the training. i beleie a lot of owners let there small dogs get away with things because they are cute. so they get spoilt.
no, it doesnt matter how big they are it matters the way you trained him. my dog is so nice she lets Everyone wake her up when shes sleeping and she'll just wag her tail.
Do all short people have a napoleon complex?

    I'm short... LOL
yes this is true most of the time...
    yes......!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!鈥?br>

I don't understand why so many people want these ';tiny'; ';teacup'; things...they are barely dogs.....high strung, more often than not have what I call ';little dog syndrome';, which is rather a ';best defense is an offense'; mentality...and the owners make it worse by not correcting, spoiling, not training....not treating them as dogs
It seems to be true.. I think it's partly breeding, but I think alot of the reason why many of them are so nasty.. is cause they are tiny and people laugh and think it's adorable when a tiny wee puppy acts aggressive.. By not correcting the behaviour and teasing the dog to get him to act that way to show off to friends, or pretending that it isn't a problem.. People make the dogs into aggressive neurotic little dogs..
definately!!! i have a fox terrierXjack russell who weighs in at 7kg who when we have a visitor onto our poperty he transforms into a man eating pitbullxsatin dog, snap snap go the jaws. hes my 5 yr olds best friend when with him theres not a mean bone in him. xlnt guard dogs go for the ankles unlike the bigger rotty ect that can be kicked or beaten to the ground
Depends, their bite is nastier then their bark, however big dogs are pretty mean

Is it true that guys care about justice while girls just want everybody to be safe and feel good?

I've heard that psychologists say that men care more about meting out punishment and upholding fairness, while women just want everyone to be safe/healthy.Is it true that guys care about justice while girls just want everybody to be safe and feel good?
Define justice. Can you have justice if most people are not safe and healthy? Do you need to meet out punishments or remediate problems in order to bring about fairness.

I think everyone is concerned with justic and fairness. I think we all wish for everyone to be safe and healthy. The way we go about it may be different by gender, by ethnicity, by religion. I think we all want the same things regardless of how we go about achieving it.Is it true that guys care about justice while girls just want everybody to be safe and feel good?
no way! I'm a woman, a therapist, and i care a whole lot more about justice than safety/health. Don't believe stereotypes - not even from a psychologist's mouth. All research studies must be reviewed by peers, but even then, that book Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus, is now being challenged by the neuropsychiatric community since brain scans show men may not be that different from women.
***and NO, it's not true. You say you ';heard'; this.

You need to find more trustworthy sources, because whoever told you this, is pretty much clueless. Remember, there are female lawyers and judges in this world. Their entire profession is based on fairness, so there you go.

That's a grossly misleading generalization. I don't think that any modern-thinking psychologist would ever say something like that.

  • Is it true people regret not going to University because they feel they've missed out on love?

I heard on BBC Radio 2 that most people leave university with a partner. And that people who don't go university regret it because they feel they've missed out on love.

Is this true?Is it true people regret not going to University because they feel they've missed out on love?
I know of some people who went to University, failed their degrees and left University in huge debt because they spent all their time screwing around instead of studying.

Is that of any help?Is it true people regret not going to University because they feel they've missed out on love?
Well...my parents didn't meet in college. They met at a pizza place lol.

And none of my friends' parents met at college, either...I guess it depends what you're going to college for. People who go for school (like you're supposed to) probably find a partner, because they're not looking for love...But you shouldn't take out a ton of loans (or have your parents pay major $$$) just so you can get some booty...
I think that's an outdated opinion. Most people today go to a college/university to get an education. If you meet a special someone along the way and it works out then great.

But most people are having fun and partying and trying to pass their classes.
Seems plausible to me just cuz in college you meet people of similar intelligence and with similar interests (like if you are in the same major).

But idk, I'm in college so I can't really say if I regret not going haha.
GO to university to get a damn education.
Only if you're going for an MRS. degree.
    i dunno i m 17 n havent finished school yet
    i don´t think so.
    thats stupid.

Is it true you start to show earlier on your second pregnancy?

Yes, because your muscles have already been stretched out.Is it true you start to show earlier on your second pregnancy?
Absolutely. Is it true you start to show earlier on your second pregnancy?
    1st - 7 months

    2nd 5 months

    3rd 3 months
yes, yes, yes. I my second pregnacy I got sooo much bigger. My husband had to help me with so much more my second pregnancy. I think I started showing about 12 weeks, When I was 30 weeks pregnant I was sized like 35 weeks. My son was also a big baby he cam 3 weeks early and was 8 pounds 13 ounces. When my husband was born he weighed 11 pounds 13 ounces.... it must run in the family
    Most people say they do.

I wouldn't know because my first pregnancy was with twins and the second was only one so I was showing earlier in my first pregnancy than I was in my second.

This time (the third) I started showing earlier than with my second pregnancy but I started off weighing four kg more than last time.
I started showing much earlier my second go round. I was plus size both times i was pregnant (almost the same weight at the beginning of both) and I didn't start wearing maternity clothes until 7 months w/my first one...but I was in them at 4 months w/my second one.
I didn't, and my babies were pretty close to the same size at birth too.

Is it true Hermione gets killed in the order of the phoenix?

    No she dosnt

she almost doesIs it true Hermione gets killed in the order of the phoenix?
She doesn't... It's Sirius Black that dies.
    no
no she goes unconsious but that happened in the second book her character is too important
    No, she doesn't.

But, a deatheater almost puts the killing spell on Hermione, but Harry distracts the deatheater, forcing the deatheater not to finish the spell.
No, she doesn't, but she does get hit with a spell that looks like it kills her. She's fine by the end, though.

If you're a fan of certain people whose last names are a color, though, you might want to watch out.
No, she is not the one who dies, though (i think) J.K.R. said that there will be at least one person who dies in every book/movie after GOF
    She doesn't, Trust Me!!
no, but she almost gets killed. I love hermione too. :)
almost, but no, she doesn't. And then ron has to carry her back (i hoped that they would kiss, but they didn't **sigh**)
No hermione does NOT die in book 5 or 6.
No,iHermione only gets injured but not killed, its sirius who gets killed
No, Hermione does %26lt;i%26gt;not%26lt;/i%26gt; die in Order of the Phoenix. There are rumors that she will die in Deathly Hallows, but no one will know till July 21.
NO!!! She's to clever to gets killed!
Absolutely not. You should read the books-they are really worth your time.
You should try reading the books as well, however, the answer to your question is no, Hermione Granger does not die in Order of the Phoenix or The Half-Blood Prince.
Order of the Phoenix is the fifth book in the seven book series and a living Hermione will be in the seventh book. So no, she does not die in Order of the Phoenix. Nor does Harry, Ron, Ginny, Malfoy, Neville, Snape, Dumbledore, McGonagal, Hagrid, Crabbe, Goyle, Mr. and Mrs. Weasley, Lupin, Fred and George, Fudge, Flitwick, Percy, Charlie, Bill, Percy, Dean, and Seamus.

Is it true the Earths poles will swap polarity in the near future?

As in the magnetism will switch so compases point in opposite directions.

And as a side point will we turn maps upside down?

Please tell me I haven't made this up...Is it true the Earths poles will swap polarity in the near future?
Yes, as it has occurred before, and ';near future'; is a relative term, it may take a few 1000's of years.

Why would we need to turn maps around? North being ';up'; is a totally arbitrary decision, which is not based on the magnetic field. As for compass, we will simply have the red end point South and the green North and that would not make much difference3--either that or you buy a new compass with the magnetic bar labeled the opposite way.

The major problem would be for the migratory birds who have a bit of magnetite in their head to feel where the North is. They will be a fit confused for a few years. Is it true the Earths poles will swap polarity in the near future?
Yes it is true. Although i don't know everything on the matter i do know that in the past 30 or so years the earth poles have moved about 20-30 degrees further away from true north and south. And that when the poles do switch we could be plunged into another ice age, for reasons which i don't know
I'm not sure about the ';near future'; but it will certainly happen - has done quite a lot in the past.
As polarity switches, a process that can take roughly a couple thousand years, the poles begin to spiral away from the true north and begin to weaken as a couple previously alluded to. Then the poles will completely disappear. There will be no ice age caused by this but the earth's magnetosphere that helps protect us from cosmic rays will be neutralized and therefore the cancer rates will probably increase. The magnetic field is thought to be caused by eddies of convection currents in the outer liquid metal (mostly iron) outer core. This spinning eddy forms a kind of dynamo. As the earth spins, some eddies become aligned with the earth's axis and form a net magnetic pole. During reversals, that net effect is missing. There is still magnetism generated by the earth's outer core, it is simply random in orientation.
There hasn't been one for a while and the indications are, due to polar wandering and an increasing weakness in the Earth's magnetic field, that it won't be long before there is another one.

    There are two theories -

The first states that the magnetic polarity reverses, the second that the Earth actually tilts on its axis so the North Pole actually moves to the position of the South Pole.

Should be pretty interesting when it does happen in either event!
well, in fact i don't think the earth will swap polarity!! indeed, the axis the of earth has been rotated due to the 1994 event!!! i.e when an asteorite was abt to hit the earth but instead hit jupiter due to its much larger gravitetional field than the earth!!!

then, the impact of that collision made the earth tilt a little!!!

but to swap polarity, well, that seems quite impossible, at least for the near future!! lol......(jupiter will hav to suffer a lot

    :-)...
It is certainly true that the Earth's magnetic field has reversed itself many times in the past (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earth%27s_m鈥?/a> I've never heard of a predictive model for it though.

Most likely the only consequence is that the labels on a compass needle would be swapped.
Very likely, but ';near'; is likely to be in terms of geological time, not next year!

There seems to be virtually a new subject, I'd call it ';computational geomagnetodynamics';, which does indeed predict reversals of the field due to processes within the earth, and there is geological evidence that this has happened in the past (from magnetism ';frozen'; in volcanic rock). You didn't make it up...

But we won't turn maps, because the earth's geographic north pole is defined by its rotation, not its magnetic field, and won't change.
Near future in geological time. Longer than anyone reading this will be able to wait, though.

Please tell me if it is true.My friend told me that some women use it to get rid of strtch marks, but I never heard of it.I just hear that it is form animals. Is it true that Bag Balm gets rid of human stretchmarks?
bag balm does NOTHING for stretch marks.

it does help prevent them if you use it on your stomach while you are pregnant, but after the fact, it is useless. Is it true that Bag Balm gets rid of human stretchmarks?
Bag balm probably could help smooth them and make them less noticeable, but it is doubtful that it would get rid of stretch marks completely. Many people use bag balm as a moisturizer, it is not just for farm animals and can be found in most drug stores.
    No, only on monkeys.

  • Is it true that Market Makers will pin an option between strikes?

I have been trading options for 7 years now and have noticed that sometimes options with high open interest on the calls and puts will be pinned down until the position expires. Is this true or just circumstance? Either way it seems suspect. Is it true that Market Makers will pin an option between strikes?
    %26lt;%26lt;%26lt;Is it true that Market Makers will pin an option between strikes?%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

Yes it happens sometimes but not as an intentional manipulation by anyone. It can happen as a natural consequence of the way market makers hedge their delta risk.

Option market makers buy and sell shares to hedge risk. Sometimes, but not always, their positions will require that to hedge they sell the stock when the price goes up and that they buy the stock when the price goes down. That can result in a stabilizing infuluece on the stock price and the price being pinned until expiry.

At other times their positions will require that to hedge they sell the stock when the price goes down and that they buy the stock when the price goes up. That can result in an increase in the volatility of the stock price, particularly close to expiry. Is it true that Market Makers will pin an option between strikes?
Market makers are tightly regulated and closely watched. I highly doubt that a market maker would risk his career and going to jail to manipulate the price.

Market makers can make plenty of money in legal ways. They don't have to risk jail time.

Is it true that Chlorinated water is good for planting?

I found an asnwer on here before but i can't find it any more. Any helps? It's for my science fair project. Also, is chorinated is in sink water too?Is it true that Chlorinated water is good for planting?
Fluoride is in tap/sink water it's supposed to help your teeth

Chlorinated water is used in swimming pools it help kill bugs and bacteria, it makes some people ill, I wouldn't put it on my plants.

Rain water is best for plants. Is it true that Chlorinated water is good for planting?
I thought that it was swimming bath water.. and i wouldnt use it on my plants..
I don't know where your previous answers came from as all water used for public supply in the UK has to go through a chlorination process. I work for one of the biggest water companies in the UK and have personally worked on a chlorination plant to treat raw water. In conjunction with this all new mains laid have to be chlorinated before they are put into use. So yes it is used for planting, and drinking and washing up, washing the car etc etc so long as you don't have a water meter. Then if you are eco friendly you use rain water.
I dont know if any good for plants but there is some chloride in tap water.

I heard on the radio today about plans to build a Disney World or Disneyland in Frisco, Texas. They said they were planning on announcing it on Super Bowl Weekend. Does anyone know if this is true? They said it would be around Highway 380 and Dallas North Tollway. Is there even an area around there big enough to build a Disney World? Thanks for any help!Is it true there is going to be a Disney World or Disneyland in Frisco, TX?
I often read up on the Disney Company's Official Press Releases, and I've heard nothing of this. A lot of other people have asked this question, though. There are websites that list all of the current works of the Company and none of them list a new Park in Texas. It's very possible they've purchased land in texas, but it definitely doesn't mean they're building a Park. Maybe they're just building a store, or maybe they're making a new destination for their new vacation program ';Adventures by Disney.'; Unless you heard it on Radio Disney, I wouldn't believe it.

I guess we'll know for sure sometime this weekend, though. Is it true there is going to be a Disney World or Disneyland in Frisco, TX?
they keep on saying that but too tell u the truth i think they are not going to build one cause they have been saying that for along time already and i havent seen or heard of it yet....well i hope this helps
Because the radio is always right...........
First, Disney had their annual stockholders meeting last week. If something was going to be announced, it would have been then.

Second, Disney has a lot of land in Florida and California. Their focus is bringing people to these parks by adding attractions, and ';fixing'; California Adventure to be more Disney-like. If there's rumors about adding another park, it would be more likely to be in Anaheim or Orlando.

Third, although attendance has been good at the parks on both coasts, a third park in Texas would draw folks from either existing park. While it might be more convenient for you to visit, Disney doesn't want their existing operations to lose money.

Fourth, Disney has been rumored to be buying property and building parks in practically every state of the union, plus Canada and Mexico. It won't happen for all the reasons above.

So no, there will be no Disney park in Texas anytime soon.
I used to work for Disney in Florida for 4 years. It would be unusual for them, but not improbable...They have them in other countries, maybe they've decided to expand in the states, but I doubt it, unless they've planned something with a different type of theme. And you know how much Disney loves theming...... It would be great if they built something in my home state....
    No
WE WERE SHOPPING FOR A HOME IN SAN ANTONIO TEXAS ABOUT YEAR AGO. WE WERE TOLD BY A REAL ESTATE AGENT THAT KNEW ANOTHER AGENT THAT HAD SOLD A LARGE AMOUNT OF LAND TO THE DISNEY CORPORATION IN WESTERN SIDE OF SAN ANTONIO.
