Is it true that Ultrasonic scalers can only remove 50% of total tartar buildup?

Is this true?: Ultrasonic scaling uses a machine called a cavitron, which uses sound waves to remove tartar. Ultrasonic scalers can only remove 50% of total tartar buildup so hand scaling must follow cavitron scaling. Is it true that Ultrasonic scalers can only remove 50% of total tartar buildup?
Not true, in fact there are studies that shows that hand scaling is not any better than ultrasonic when used correctly. Some pts prefer the use of ultrasonic b/c the action is all on the tip therefore less pressure is needed to remove plaque and tartar. There is also a therapeutic effect the lavage (water) create by the water use to cool the tip and vibration from the ultrasonic helps to remove bacteria from pockets. There are also numerous tips attachments for the machine so they can be use to remove debri in different areas of the mouth.

One drawback , pts may complain of sensitivity due to high frequency if they have root exposure and also the high pitch may be uncomfortable on the ears if your cleaning back teeth.
